After investigation, the old clothes and sugar from Fujian 298 cargo ship were transferred from the high seas smuggling vessels. Police officers from the Wenzhou customs anti smuggling sub Bureau said that these old clothes were from outside and the cabin was stinked. The sugar was tested in accordance with the relevant standards of China. Now it has been warehousing for further disposal.

Wenzhou customs officials said that the old clothes were smuggled around the sea and shipped by three non ships. All the crew involved had been detained and could not carry out the operation. In view of the fact that old clothes are stored on ships for a long time, they are very likely to breed germs and pollute the environment. There is a hidden danger of pollution diseases. After approval by the Provincial Department of environmental protection, and with the consent of the inspection department, the Wenzhou customs anti smuggling sub Bureau shall, according to the procedures for handling criminal cases, be designated by the municipal sanitation department to conduct harmless disposal of the smuggled old clothes.
