The 2Nd Uruguayan Footwear Exhibition Opens

The second Uruguayan footwear exhibition "Montevideo is under your feet" was held at the exhibition center of the Uruguayan National Inspection Bureau (Latu) from February 14 to 16, 2008, with more than 40 local enterprises participating in the exhibition, the Uruguayan "state" newspaper reported. The purpose of the exhibition is to promote the development of local footwear manufacturing industry and make the public closer to domestic products. In 2007, Uruguay imported 13 million pairs of shoes, and the domestic production was only 2 million pairs. The local shoemaking industry did not give up in the face of difficulties, and made a long-term plan to recapture the domestic market and export to foreign countries. Hope to improve the design and quality level to occupy the domestic high-end shoe market, in order to cope with the increasingly severe competition of Chinese products. To this end, the footwear and leather industry alliance and the project development bureau of the president's office of Ukraine jointly worked out a plan to improve competitiveness, and invested $500000 to hold the exhibition.
