Exhibition News: The 6Th China Textile Exhibition Opened In Cape Town International Convention And Exhibition Center

At 9:00 am on September 10 local time, the 6th China Premium Tex Jinan Africa Garments, Textiles, Leather and Footwear Exhibition opened in Cape Town International Convention and Exhibition Center.

Michael Dehn, chairman of Frankfurt Exhibition (South Africa) Co., Ltd., presided over the opening ceremony. Dr. Jaywant Irkhede, head of the leather footwear department of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of South Africa, Zhang Xiangdong, director of Nantong Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and Xu Yuxiang, chairman of Jiangsu Suhao International Group Co., Ltd. cut the ribbon together as guests.

The exhibition was founded in 2016 and co organized by the Textile Industry Branch of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Frankfurt Exhibition (South Africa) Co., Ltd. Since 2019, it has become an international professional procurement platform for textile and clothing in * * *.

South Africa is China's * * * trade partner in Africa and one of the important export markets of Chinese textiles and clothing in Africa. In the second quarter of this year, South Africa's GDP grew by 0.4%, the economy showed a slow recovery trend, and business confidence improved. From January to July 2024, China's textile and clothing exports to South Africa reached 1.46 billion US dollars, up 4.1% year on year. Among them, the export amount of clothing increased 0.7% year on year, and the export growth of textile fabrics/fabrics reached 20.8%.

More than 100 textile and clothing enterprises from China and southern Africa participated in this exhibition. Chinese enterprises mainly come from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong and other major textile and clothing export provinces, and their products are mainly garments, home textiles, fabrics, bags, shoes and shoes.

Among Chinese exhibitors, there are many provincial and municipal key trade groups and leading enterprises, with Jiangsu Suhao International Group Co., Ltd. and Hangzhou Beijin Import and Export Co., Ltd. as representatives. Nantong Council for the Promotion of International Trade actively organizes local enterprises to explore the African market. In addition, the platform has also attracted domestic clusters and supply chain service providers such as Guangzhou Liuhua Garment Wholesale Market and Guangzhou Fashion Front Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. for a long time.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Competition of South Africa (DTIC), Industrial Development Group (IDC), South African Dyeing and Finishing Entrepreneurs Association (SADFA), South African Footwear and Leather Export Promotion Council (SAFLEC), Small and Micro Enterprises Development Alliance (SEDA) and other institutions organized local enterprises to participate in the exhibition in the form of exhibition groups.

The number of pre registered visitors exceeded that of the previous session, including the international retail company WOOLWORTHS, the South African * * * fashion retail group THE FOSCHINI GROUP (TFG), the South African fashion retailer TRUWORTHS, the South African retail group MR PRICE GROUP LTD, the South African retail group Pepkor, the retail clothing brand PICK N PAY CLOTHING, and the fashion brand Lee Cooper.

During the exhibition, many expert discussions were held around the African continent free trade zone and its impact on SMEs, the sustainable journey of South Africa's fashion and textile industry: green manufacturing, ethical procurement and lean practice, the African Growth and Opportunity Act - impact, transformation and potential and other hot topics. In addition, there will be several fashion shows from exhibitors.
