The day before yesterday morning, the talent was dim and bright. The small silkworm breeding center located at Huangcunqiao, Jiangjia Town, Chun'an County was already busy. The workers removed a box of four instar silkworms in turn, sprinkled a thin layer of fresh lime powder for disinfection of the silkworm body, and then sprinkled fresh mulberry leaves. This was the last "breakfast" for young silkworms in the joint breeding room since the 10th day, and then they will be distributed to each silkworm raiser to settle down in their homes until they complete their mission of spinning and cocooning.

Silkworm farmers who came to collect small silkworms crowded into the courtyard of the common room. Thousands of silkworm flat boxes were carried out of the common room by the farmers and carefully carried onto the tricycle.

"This year, we raised 306.5 small silkworms in the first batch, and now all of them have been distributed. The second batch is expected to raise about 260 small silkworms," said Wu Jinqi, director of Huangcunqiao Small Silkworm Breeding Center.

In recent years, Chun'an has made great efforts to promote the technology of small silkworm rearing together. It has built joint rearing rooms in towns and villages. Large silkworm rearing households with rich experience in rearing silkworms adopt industrialized and intensive methods, and concentrate on rearing 1-3 instar young silkworms for silkworm farmers until the 4th instar. After co breeding, the young silkworms are well developed and have a low incidence rate. Each season, the silkworm can also reduce the rearing time for the silkworm farmers by about 10 days. The 4th instar silkworms brought back by the silkworm farmers can be cocooned and sold after only 15 days of feeding. The batch industry of silkworm rearing has increased from the traditional 4 batches to 6 batches. The benefit advantage of "short, flat and fast" of the silkworm industry is further highlighted, which effectively promotes the income increase of the silkworm farmers.

It is reported that in 2023, Chun'an will distribute 19800 silkworm eggs in total throughout the year, realizing a total of 14200 small silkworm eggs, with a total breeding rate of 71.7%. In 2024, 5530.75 silkworm eggs will be distributed in the first spring of the county, and 3988 small silkworm eggs will be bred, with a total breeding rate of 72.1%.
