"This species is medicinal mulberry. It has sufficient moisture, good taste and medicinal value." Qiu Yiping, a distinguished professor of the Textile College of Donghua University in Xinjiang Hotan Sericulture Research Institute, gently picked a mulberry from the tree and put it in his mouth to taste.

At the beginning of this summer vacation, Qiu Yiping came to Xinjiang again. With him, there were more than 100 teachers and students from more than 10 colleges and universities across the country. They went to the grass-roots textile enterprises in the north and south of Tianshan Mountain and the main cotton production areas for research and teaching.

"Do you dare to take the hard seat train for more than 50 hours and go back to the road of helping Xinjiang by educated youth?" In 2011, Qiu Yiping's online call was positively responded by teachers and students. Since then, Donghua weavers have made a summer agreement with Xinjiang.

For more than a decade, the East China Textile Aid Corps for Xinjiang has developed into a big alliance with hundreds of members from 15 universities nationwide, including Suzhou University, Jiangnan University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Xinjiang University, Tianjin University of Technology, Quanzhou Normal University, etc.

This is a common journey and a continuous relay.

"Today, the flag of the Xinjiang Aid Corps has been passed to us. To take over the flag is to take over the mission and responsibility. We need to carry forward the spirit of Populus euphratica and the spirit of garrison reclamation and border defense, and continue to write a new chapter of Xinjiang aid work." On July 11, at the 11th "Belt and Road" national college students summer social practice textile aid corps expedition and flag awarding ceremony held by Tarim University, Young students from all over the country made a clank pledge.

Cotton testing standards, evaluation system, yarn online and offline testing technology... In order to give lectures in Xinjiang, Hai Wenqing, a 2023 doctoral candidate from the School of Textiles of Donghua University, has prepared a long course, constantly contacted enterprises to find out their needs, and constantly revised the lecture notes.

According to the actual needs of local enterprises, the Xinjiang Aid Corps has customized a total of 20 "menus" of training courses for enterprises to choose independently this year, covering the situation and policies, professional and technical knowledge, industry development trends, etc.

In addition to teaching and training, teachers and students also try to use professional knowledge to help enterprises sort out and solve problems.

After several times of relay of Xinjiang aid groups, Xinjiang Lvyuqing Textile Technology Co., Ltd., which was put into trial production this year, introduced the key special project of the Ministry of Science and Technology "non-aqueous medium dyeing technology" presided over by Wang Jiping, a 1981 alumnus of Donghua University and a professor of Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology. "Only a small amount of water, zero sewage discharge", this technology is expected to solve the two major problems of water and pollution in textile printing and dyeing of Xinjiang cotton.

In Awati Thinking Textile Technology Co., Ltd., Director Zhang is encountering a headache: the unevenness of the production machine is on the high side. The teachers and students entered the workshop, carefully recorded each parameter of the machine, carefully analyzed it, and finally found the abnormality in the most inconspicuous place. In Luntai Xingbo Clothing Co., Ltd., the factory director Sun Kai led the teachers and students to visit every part of the workshop carefully. "We need to come often to meet the needs more accurately." Qiu Yiping told reporters that this time they will go to Tumushuke to open a science popularization class, go to Hotan to investigate the transformation of Xinjiang's sericulture industry, and go to Yuli to investigate the production and construction of apocynum in the whole industrial chain

Qiu Yiping was pleased to have entered Xinjiang more than 20 times. More and more teachers and students joined the Xinjiang aid team, and many members of the Xinjiang aid delegation chose to work in Xinjiang.

After graduation, I chose to return to my hometown, hoping to do something within my ability for my hometown." "The touching stories of our predecessors in Xinjiang aid have inspired our students to gain different growth in the social class." Shou Chenyan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Textiles of Donghua University, introduced that the Xinjiang Aid League has established a temporary party branch every year relying on the practice team. Since 2022, the "Belt and Road" textile aid league graduate party branch has also been officially established.
