Exports Continued To Grow In Switzerland In The Second Quarter Of 2019

According to the latest statistics released by the General Administration of Customs of Switzerland (EZV), the volume of foreign trade continued to grow in the second quarter of this year (2019). Compared with the first quarter of this year, exports grew by 1.4% and imports grew by 0.2%. Switzerland's total import and export trade in the second quarter is 109 billion 600 million Swiss francs, of which the export volume is 58 billion 200 million Swiss francs, with an import volume of 51 billion 400 million Swiss francs. The trade surplus in the second quarter was 6 billion 800 million Swiss francs.

Based on the above statistics, the export growth of Switzerland in the second quarter is compared with that of the previous quarter. The industries with the largest export growth are: Automobile Industry (+9.3%), chemical and pharmaceutical industry (+2.4%), textile garments and footwear (+1.1%), machinery and electronics industry (+0.3%), and industries with negative growth in exports are: paper making and charting industry (-5.6%), food industry (-1.5%), plastics synthesis industry (-1.5%), jewellery and jewelry industry (-1.2%), precision instrument industry (-0.4%), metal industry (-0.2%), and watch industry unchanged.

Switzerland's exports in the second quarter compared with the previous quarter, exports to North America grew by 4.5%, Latin America grew by 3%, exports to Europe grew by 2.1%, of which the European Union grew by 2.6%, the Oceania region declined 8.9%, the African region declined 1.6%, and the Asian region declined 0.1%.
