Why Do Chinese Students Rush To Jump?

According to the world clothing and shoe net, UCAS, the institution responsible for recruiting British universities, recently found that in last year Britain, the number of students applying for admission to universities was decreasing, and the number of undergraduate applications was less than 30 thousand.
And in all professions, the number of creative applications is the most obvious.
Creative majors are mainly divided into arts and Arts in the UK.
Design
The two big category, compared to 2015, applied to read the two categories of students less than 17 thousand people, accounting for almost half of the total number of undergraduate students.
Creative majors are very important components of the university education system in the UK.
Even in 2016, a total of 230 thousand applications were received in this category, which was second only to medicine, biotechnology and business.
In the broad sense, music, sculpture, dance, photography and writing are all classified into the major categories of art. With the deepening of electronization, some schools have also introduced digital mapping.
3D printing
Design and other emerging categories.

The reasons for the reduction in the number of applicants for design and art institutes are mostly related to public policy.
According to the world clothing and shoe net, the tuition fees of the British School of design have improved in the autumn of 2016, which may be a great inducement.
In addition to Scotland which does not need to pay tuition fees, students in other parts of the UK may face three times higher tuition fees than in 2012. The number has reached at least 9250 pounds a year, or about 79 thousand yuan.
Even half the tuition fees for international students, nearly 80 thousand yuan is still a big figure for British students.
Peter Higgins, the creative director of the Land design studio, explains that this means that students are at least 30 thousand pounds in debt, so they have to consider their career choices carefully.
Some even think that it doesn't make sense to have an art diploma. If you want to be a designer, you can do short-term training or follow Youtube videos. You don't need to spend money in college.
Now in Britain, students who study STEM (Science, technology, engineering and Mathematics) are most optimistic, while learning art and design are hard to ensure that employment can have a good income.
The British government's strong support for the former and the tendency to ignore the latter are already obvious. In 2016, the British government allocated a huge amount of 23 billion pounds to the development of science and technology, but rarely mentioned the categories of art. And the British Prime Minister Theresa May, who took office after the announcement of her return to Europe, clearly pointed out that we should vigorously develop STEM and digital skills to revitalize the European industry.
"The government has pulled away from supporting creative industries.
"Paul Ring, a senior interior decorating lecturer at the University of Ethiopia, explained to Designweek that the advantages of the environment had faded, and young people began to find no value in the arts and design majors.
Such a similar situation has also appeared in the United States, but the situation is not so serious.
The United States is facing the same problem as Britain. Many students are unable to bear the increasing tuition fees. They have chosen a cheaper plan to study abroad.
In 2016, the average fee of American universities was 31 thousand yuan, or 200 thousand yuan, which was higher than that of the United Kingdom.
After graduating from high school, American high school students like to go to Germany and other tuition free countries to find hobbies, while creative majors are more attractive in Europe.
Interestingly, however, contrary to Britain and the United States, the number of Chinese students who want to study creative subjects is increasing year by year.
According to the 2014 statistics of the British Higher Education Statistics Bureau, the number of Chinese students studying business in the UK has increased by nearly 5 in the past 5 years to 4000.
fashion
And the design profession has become the most popular subject among Chinese students since business. The number has increased rapidly to about 1600.
Kevin Macarthy, director of education and culture at London Development Department under the London municipal government, said in an activity: "over the past 5 years, Chinese students in fashion and design have increased by 158%.

The continuing popularity of the art profession is the inevitable outcome of the growth of China's younger generation under better economic conditions. The pursuit of quality of life and aesthetic mode has contributed to their enthusiasm for art and design.
This has also spawned a large number of art education intermediaries. We have explained in detail in the past. In 2011, the design and training institutions entered a blowout period. Besides VO5, the Art Alliance in Beijing also opened in this year. In 2013, PSONE joined the training market.
And this is only in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and other places such design training institutions are also few.
There are not only private design training institutions, but also a number of institutions directly under the Central Academy of fine arts, Tsinghua Academy of fine arts, Beijing Institute Of Fashion Technology and other institutions of higher learning.
After nearly 5 years of development, the design of the overseas study market is more mature.
According to Chen Liyilin, an international student of art design, Rosso international art education, there are obvious trends in Chinese students' choice of majors in British and American reading design. One is that they focus on two aspects of vision and fashion. Two, children with better grades often choose to apply for arts colleges and universities, and do not forget to choose more widely established disciplines such as architecture and industrial design in comprehensive universities. The advantages of this way are not only to satisfy the expectations of parents and students on the overall rankings of schools, but also to meet career planning in the field of design in the future.
The increase in Chinese students just fills the financial hole after the loss of local students.
Chen Liyilin believes that this is a normal business logic, "the volume of mainland students is increasing, it must be because the number of places enrolled by universities is increasing. After all, as an industry, it still has to survive and make money."

Moreover, the economic situation in Europe and other European countries has been faced with many challenges in recent years, which is more serious than that in other parts of the world.
It is hard for British schools to get into the predicament to give local students higher preferences than before. Many of the young people over the age of 18 in Europe and the United States have already independently borne the cost of living, which is very different from that of parents in China.
Naturally, the recruitment of Chinese students has a more stable return on capital.
"Central Saint Martin 12 years later raised the tuition fees of local students to almost the same level as international students. At that time, many students marched."
Chen Liyi Lin added, "there are still many local students who feel that school enrollment of international students, especially Chinese students, has led to a decline in the quality of education."
However, this will not affect the blueprint of Chinese students, since the door of schools has been opened to them.
Moreover, China's own design soil is becoming warm. Last year, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu and other cities chanting their slogan of the capital of design and construction, held dozens of exhibitions, forums and other activities to provide a platform for young designers.
This enables young people to pursue their love more relaxed and energetically.
Yu Changshuo, who was recently admitted to the Rhodes Island Institute of art and design, recalled that in the high school class, boys like cars wanted to learn industrial design, fashion girls wanted to learn fashions, and other students in art institutions also had to learn to design and ride Rd. and even rented in Shanghai.
But to be honest, some people choose to design in order to mix it up. Many people think that design is better than other "regular majors".
From the point of view of employment, China's demand for design is expanding. Many parents feel that reading art is not as hard to find as a job, so they also agree that children learn art and design.

And those Chinese students who have successfully studied abroad have a more diversified future. Chen Li Lin said that many people in the United States had made design work because of relatively relaxed policies, and most of them chose to return to China.
In today's Chinese fashion and other fields, the central Saint Martin, the London Academy of art and the Italy Malan Nei college graduates account for most of the graduates.
It is hard to say whether the British design industry will get warmer.
Sana Iqbal, an illustrator at the John Morse University in Liverpool, thinks that although creative education in Britain has been resilient, schools still attach great importance to encouraging young people to give full play to creativity.
Ring also believes that even if tuition fees are raised and the government does not support, creative majors are still in the forefront of the majors that are popular with undergraduates. They can explain that the society needs the inventors, and they are pushing the society forward.
