According to the preliminary statistics released by the textile and clothing office (OTEXA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce, in January 2009, the United States imported 222 categories of knitted fabrics from China, 28.43 million square meters, an increase of 118.7% over the same period of last year; 632 types of chemical fiber socks were 27.34 million square meters, a year-on-year increase of 118%; 645 categories of men's pullovers were 175000 square meters, with a year-on-year increase of 213.4%. In addition, the number of women's knitted shirts and woolen socks increased by more than 349% in women's knitted shirts and 349 cotton pullovers. The export growth of some categories in January was due to the cancellation of quantity restrictions this year and the postponement of shipment by enterprises. However, the trend is worthy of attention. The textile import and Export Chamber of Commerce reminds relevant enterprises to pay close attention to the export progress of relevant categories to the United States, reasonably arrange production, and closely guard against foreign trade risks while maintaining stable export growth.
