Punitive tariffs, which is the victory of New Delhi in the battle against trade protectionism in several countries.

A Ministry of Commerce official said that the two countries may sign a memorandum of understanding on this issue as soon as possible. Then India will cancel its complaint against Turkey in the WTO earlier this year.

The official said two countries have reached a satisfactory consensus on punitive tariffs.

As long as the memorandum of understanding is signed, India will withdraw its complaint.

The global economy is uncertain, prompting some countries, the United States, Egypt and Turkey, from other countries.

Improving trade protectionism barriers, including India, is aimed at protecting their domestic enterprises.

Since July 2011, Turkey has imposed a 12%-17% special tax on top of 5% customs duties.

This makes India's export to Turkey more expensive.

On the other hand, Egypt imposed a 55 cent tax on kilograms of yarn in December 2011.

On the basis of the relevant taxes, special tax is added to protect domestic industries against the sharp increase in imports.

India contends that Turkey has decided to extend the special bonded duty after the special tax expires last year, but subsidies and countervailing duties have not been examined by the WTO Committee.
