19 April, the fifteenth cross-strait textile and Clothing Fair, held in Shishi, Fujian, is showing some new trends in the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides of the Straits: the downturn in the European and American economies has led to the decline in the export of textile and garment industries between the mainland and Taiwan. This grim situation has pushed the textile and garment industry across the Strait to intensify "tug of heating".

According to Liu Yanwei, director of the Information Department of the chamber of Commerce of the International Chamber of Commerce of the International Chamber of Commerce of China, 1 and February this year, the textile exports of the mainland were negative growth, in which the export volume in February was the lowest in recent years, and in March it rebounded.

Throughout the first quarter, the mainland

Clothing exports totaled $50 billion, an increase of 2.9% over the same period last year, and this growth rate has dropped sharply compared with the past.

China's economic monitoring center recently released data also showed that: in the first quarter, the mainland business climate index was 127.3, a slight decrease of 0.5 compared with the fourth quarter of last year, of which the chemical fiber and textile industries were included in the recession, and the prosperity index was less than 100.

Taiwan is more vulnerable to the European debt crisis.

"Taiwan is a trade oriented island economy, which is easily affected by the international economic situation.

In the first 2 months of this year, the export of Taiwan's textile industry increased by 10% over the same period last year, and many textile enterprises suffered losses.

Chen Tiehan, President of Taiwan Knitting Industry Association, said.

In expanding the European and American markets, Taiwan industry has placed great hopes on the mainland market.

At the current Haibo conference, the Taiwan Textile Development Association and other institutions organized the more than 20 well-known Taiwan textile and garment enterprises, such as Taiyuan textile joint stock, Hong Kang international stock, and you Liang hi tech textile, to look for mainland partners.

Chen Jie, director of Taiwan Bao Lai Industrial Co., Ltd., said that Taiwan textile enterprises used to invest in the mainland by means of sole proprietorship and factories. The products were mainly exported to Europe and the United States.

Now exports are facing difficulties, so Taiwanese businessmen have great interest in developing the mainland's domestic demand market.

Many Taiwanese businessmen began to jointly set up factories with the mainland industry, with the advantage of mainland enterprises.

"We have also reached a cooperation intention with a Guangzhou company, and will soon set up a joint venture in Fujian Shishi to move all the factories in Taiwan here."

Chen Jie said.

The effect of accelerating cooperation between the two sides of the Strait has also gradually emerged.

Huang Weiji, Secretary General of Taiwan Textile Development Association, said that last year, Taiwan's textile exports to the mainland increased by 9%.

In the first quarter of this year, the growth rate has been speeded up to 10%.

This year, the ECFA effect will become more apparent. 125 of the 136 textiles included in the early checklist will be reduced to zero this year.

Zhang Yongning, chief executive of the Organizing Committee of Haibo city and Secretary of Shishi municipal Party committee, said that the textile and garment industry across the Straits is developing towards the direction of deep docking.

In the future, there is still room for cooperation between the two sides.

On the other hand, the docking of Taiwan universities directly with the mainland textile industry has also become a new trend of cross-strait cooperation.

The Haibo organizing committee has set up a production and research docking center, including Taiwan Fu Jen University, Tainan University of science and technology and Taipei University of science and technology.

Chen Qiujuan, director of the board of directors of Tainan applied science and Technology University, told reporters that the water soluble cloth and nonwoven technology they brought were the latest research results. They also brought the model to Taiwan to attract the attention of the mainland textile and garment industry.

In addition to industry university research docking, the trend of cross strait cooperation in formulating industry standards deserves more attention.

During the Haibo conference, the green energy fiber alliance was announced. It is a trade organization composed of more than 10 enterprises on both sides of the Strait.

After the establishment of the green energy fiber alliance, it signed with the British Standards Association to cooperate.
