Textile And Garment Macao

The Macao Bureau of statistics and Census Bureau released the findings of the first quarter of 2011 on human resource demand and pay.


The survey covers manufacturing, restaurant catering, insurance, financial intermediation, hydropower and gas production and supply, while the statistics do not include self financing operators and intermediaries who are not directly employed by insurance companies.


At the end of the first quarter of 2011,

manufacturing industry

The total number of paid employees was 12455, a decrease of 18.1% over the same period. Among them, the number of employees in the textile industry (843) and the clothing industry (5270) decreased by 37.1% and 31.4% respectively.

The average salary (excluding bonus and bonus) of full-time employees in manufacturing industry in March was 6460 yuan (Macao yuan, the same below), an annual increase of 11.8%, of which the average salary of the workers in the clothing parking lot was 3590 yuan.


There were 53921 paid employees in the restaurant industry, an increase of 11.7% over the same period, of which 35163 were in the hospitality industry.

The average salary of full-time employees in March was 10700 yuan, an annual increase of 7.3%, of which the average salary of hotel rooms and floor attendants was 6570 yuan.


There are 1062 paid employees in the water and gas production and supply sector, a slight increase of 0.5% over the same period.

The average salary for full-time employees in March was 22240 yuan, similar to the same period in 2010.


The number of paid employees in the insurance industry was 452, an increase of 3.9% over the same period.

The average salary for full-time employees in March was 18750 yuan, an increase of 3% over the past year.


The number of paid employees in the financial intermediation sector was 424, a decrease of 4.1% over the same period.

The average salary for full-time employees in March was 11730 yuan, an increase of 5.7% over the past year.


In terms of job openings, there were 1221 vacancies in the manufacturing sector in the first quarter of 2011, 4686 in restaurants, and 20 and 24 vacancies in the insurance and financial intermediaries respectively.


In terms of recruitment requirements, more than half of the above 5 industries have job vacancies requiring work experience. In terms of academic requirements, 61% and 64.8% of the vacancies in the manufacturing and hotel catering industry require junior secondary education or below; vacancies in insurance and financial intermediation services require high school education or above.


As for language requirements, in addition to Guangzhou dialect, financial intermediaries

Service industry

All vacancies require Putonghua, the hotel catering industry has a ratio of 58%, and 85% of the insurance industry needs to know English, and the proportion of financial intermediation services and restaurant catering industry is 60% and 43.1% respectively.


In terms of reflecting the inflow, outflow and filling positions of human resources in the industry, the employment rate of hotel restaurants was the highest (12.8%), indicating that there were more new recruited employees in the quarter.

The employee turnover rate (10.1%) and vacancy rate (9.5%) increased by 3.7 and 0.3 percentage points respectively.
