The denim manufacturers and Exporters Association (PDMEA) asked the government to send a delegation to the company.

Pakistan's exporters expressed concern about the EU's recent proposal for zero tariff entry.

PDMEA chairman Shahid Soorti said in a statement that the Pakistan government should also send delegations to the European apparel and Textile Federation to communicate with all concerned about this issue.

He disclosed that the EU has revised the rules of allowing 75 kinds of Pakistan products to enter the EU without tariff, and imposed more stringent restrictive measures. This has reduced its effectiveness and greater concession.

In view of the pressure of the domestic textile industry, the European Union will

Favoured policy

The time was reduced from 3 years to 2 years, and it was decided that tariff concessions could be provided in third years after reassessment.

In addition, the EU imposed further restrictive measures, that is, products with annual export growth exceeding 20% can not enjoy tariff free access.

But since then, the EU has noted strong growth in some of its main products, such as fabrics, socks, bath towels, women's jeans and so on, but these products are included in the list of 75 types of tariff free access products.

PDMEA chairman Shahid Soorti said that these products are likely to increase to 20% in the first 6-8 months of the first year, and may be asked to give up their tariff free access status.

As these products are on the list of tariff free, they are the focus of attention of manufacturers in related fields. For example, ladies' jeans are included in the list of 75 products. Therefore, woven garment manufacturers and their overseas buyers will buy more ladies jeans trousers, which will exceed men's jeans, because they will take advantage of the tariff free advantage.

Soorti said Pakistan should put pressure on the European Union to require the EU to provide three years of tariff free access to the 75 products in accordance with the original proposal, and the preferential treatment time can not be reduced.
