The foundation is weak. According to the International Federation of spinning statistics, in 2008, there were 5 million 565 thousand spindles in Africa, 170 thousand in rotor spinning, 15 thousand in shuttleless looms, and 61 thousand in shuttle looms.

In addition to the limited number of equipment, the distribution of African cotton textile industry is also very dispersed. Egypt has a more complete vertically integrated textile industry.

From cotton cultivation to spinning, fabric and garment production, the whole production process can be completed in Egypt.

Up to now, Egypt has formed two cotton textile industrial clusters, denim production and coarse cotton yarn import.

Egypt's textile industry in Africa ranks second only to South Africa, with 1000 local factories.

Because of its limited domestic production capacity, Egypt needs to import large quantities of yarn and finished fabrics from Turkey and other countries.


Egypt has obvious energy advantages, low prices and low human resource prices.

The training measures of the government have made the textile industry workers improve their skills and skills.

The annual output of Egyptian long staple cotton and super long staple cotton accounts for 35% of the world's total.

Egyptian textile production accounts for 25% of the country's total industry, of which 12% of home textiles and 8% of cotton yarn, and 5% of other cotton fabrics and textiles.

Since the base is relatively low, the total monthly income has exceeded 300% per month, and the monthly export volume is also increasing month by month. Africa accounts for 79% of the 33 zero tariff countries.


The Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council has decided that since July 1, 2010, zero tariff has been imposed on 4762 commodities exported to China from the 33 least developed countries which have completed the exchange of notes with China, accounting for 60% of the total tariff items, including two categories of textiles and clothing products. The African countries involved include 26 countries, namely, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Benin, Mozambique, Sultan, Tanzania and the Central African Republic.
