The textile industry is a pillar industry in Brazil.

According to statistics, there are about more than 30 thousand enterprises in Brazil's textile and garment industry, with about 1 million 800 thousand employees directly employed.

According to the statistics of the Brazil clothing trade union, the total amount of textiles imported from Brazil in 2009 amounted to 3 billion 20 million US dollars, up 40.5% from the same period last year, of which the import volume of home textiles was 1 billion 580 million US dollars, up 49.7% over the same period last year.
