National Cotton Industry Alliance Holds Cotton Field Management Meeting

 

"The cotton field is about to be irrigated, and now is the key time for field management..." on May 25, the field management meeting of high-quality cotton of national cotton industry alliance was held in Changji national agricultural science and technology park. Fu Shihai, a cotton expert from Shihezi comprehensive experimental station of Cotton Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, taught water and fertilizer, plant protection and other technologies for more than 30 large cotton growers.

 

The national cotton industry alliance, led by the Cotton Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, was established in November 2016 in conjunction with 208 scientific research, production and processing units in China.

 

This year, the national cotton industry alliance has promoted high-quality cotton planting mode in Xinjiang, covering an area of 1 million mu, including 100000 mu in Changji national agricultural science and Technology Park and Manas County. In the project implementation area, advanced practical technologies such as drip irrigation under mulch, soil testing and formulated fertilization, biological control of diseases and insect pests and other advanced practical technologies were widely applied in the project implementation area. Good cotton varieties, reasonable close planting and standardized operation were selected. Experts and agricultural technicians from Cotton Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences went deep into the field to guide farmers, laying a solid foundation for cotton harvest.

 

Zhang Mingqing, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Changji national agricultural science and Technology Park and executive vice president of the national cotton industry alliance, introduced that the trial planting results of "Zhongmian 641" introduced by the national cotton industry alliance in Changji area showed that the fiber length and strength of the raw cotton were close to 32, which were four grades higher than the main quality of Xinjiang cotton, and exceeded the Australian cotton standard comprehensively, and the quality and efficiency could be improved by more than 500 yuan per mu.
